Staff Financial Analyst

The position is located in Northbrook, Illinois.

 

The purpose of this department is to lead the development of business strategy, translate the business strategy into goals that guide integrated operational plans.  Diagnose issues and analyze trends to explain and strengthen understanding of financial results.

 

This Analyst position is in Allstate Protection Finance on the Capital Management team. The team?s responsibilities include: Capital and Risk Management for Allstate Protection.The position requires strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work with others at various levels throughout the organization, good organizational/time management skills, and presentation capabilities.  Additionally, this position acknowledges a more advanced understanding of the data, information, terminology, and technology (financial modeling software & spreadsheets) as well as increased responsibility for interacting with other departments. 

 

The individual will be responsible for:

 

1. Catastrophe Exposure Management -  Reinsurance/Risk Transfer Mechanisms -Expanded Markets -Reporting

2. Economic Capital -Model Development -Consult and Socialize EC Concept -Use of the EC Tool for Annual Risk Transfer Strategy

3. Allcorp Company Structure Activities -Rationalization for Legal Entities -New Companies -Dividend/Infusion Process/Policy

4. Cost Benefit Analysis -Prepare/Consult on CBA -Long Form-External Benchmarking of CBA Processes -Prepare Recommendations for Acquisition or Divestiture of Real Estate

 

The skills required are:

 

1. Intermediate - Ability to perform complex form of financial analysis, linking different data sources and providing an in-depth product. The ability to work with numbers and formulas.

2. Intermediate - Written and oral communication skills. The ability to effectively communicate information on straightforward topics with internal and external customers.

3. Intermediate - Expanded knowledge of the insurance industry and the outside marketplace, with the ability to conduct presentations to other departments on complex topics and be able to handle a subsequent Q&A.

4. Advanced - PC skills in spreadsheets, financial modeling, and presentations.

 

Experience Required:

-In depth expanded knowledge of the insurance industry and external marketplace, insurance key factors and terminology.

 

Computer Proficiency:

-Proficient in Excel based applications, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

 

Education:

-Masters/MBA - Preferred, Major preference: This position requires an undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Math, (or related field) or relevant experience.
