State & Local Tax Manager

RSM McGladrey, one of the nation's leading business consulting and tax firms, has an exciting opportunity in our St. Louis office for a SALT Manager with a specialty in multi-state, income tax planning, and compliance.

Job Description:
Provide and oversee quality income tax services for the Firm's clients.
A Tax Manager is responsible for managing tax assignments and related projects.
Assignments include planning and coordinating the flow of information with the client, preparing complex tax returns, supervising staff, reviewing work papers and tax returns, reviewing tax provisions on audit and review engagements, researching and resolving technical issues, and participating in the billing and collection process. A Tax Manager also has significant responsibility in the professional development of staff members.
Possesses in-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Keeps current on new developments.
Develops specialized knowledge as a Firm expert on one or more tax subjects or industries; e.g., partnerships, employee benefits, banking, real estate, etc.
Recognizes opportunities for providing additional services to clients. Markets technical specialty or expertise to clients.
Supervises preparation of and reviews income tax returns.
Reviews tax provisions on audit and review engagements.
Prepares complex tax returns.
Performs tax planning and research, and resolves complex tax issues. Gives recommendations to clients.
Conducts internal training courses or seminars on specialties.
Maintains regular contact with assigned clients. Develops a good relationship through personal attention, timeliness of service, and good money saving advice.

Qualifications:
CPA certification.
BS degree in accounting.
Is progressing toward obtaining an advanced degree in taxation or equivalent.
4 - 6 years current or recent experience in public accounting.
Has demonstrated mastery of the duties and responsibilities of a Tax Supervisor, or successful experience in a similar position.
