State and Local Tax Manager

Job Description -- · Research/review state income/franchise tax, sales tax, and transactional tax issues.
? Respond to notices issued by state and local taxing jurisdictions.
? Negotiate settlement terms with state and local taxing authorities.
? Review memoranda on state and local tax issues for corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
? Provide technical expertise on issues related to federal, state and local taxes on telecommunications services.
? Manage large tax analysis projects involving multiple jurisdictions.
? Prepare ruling requests.
? Assess and manage voluntary disclosure projects.
? Assist in due diligence projects on as-needed basis.

Job Requirement Essential

Successful candidate will have a strong technical tax background in tax research, consulting and compliance as it relates to income and franchise tax specialities. Prior experience in a tax professional servcies firm, industry, law firm and/or government agency is preferred. Client service orientation combined with creative problem solving skills; strong written and oral communciation skills; the ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities. Highly motivated to take the initiative for own and development of staff. The candidate will have the opportunity to network extensively with existing and prospective clients, to assume a high degree of responsibility and exposure with the Firm. The candidate should be able to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks as well as manage team members.
