Statutory Reporting Accountant

This position supports the controllership efforts related to the control and external / regulatory reporting for American Express Bank Int'l(AEBI) Miami & NY by ensuring that all local statutory and external reporting requirements are met and delivered on time plus supports monitoring and compliance with company policies, procedures and SOX process.

This position is critical in terms of meeting all legal requirements for local statutory reporting and ensuring that all risk related reporting activities are completed on time and according to policy. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: support of statutory and regulatory reporting and audits, compliance with US GAAP and company policies; support and coordinate external auditors and regulators during external audits and regulatory reviews; internal control over financial reporting and risk assessment/ reviews of key Financial Reporting Processes.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Various aspects of accounting, analysis, financial reporting, and key accounting controls.
Statutory and Regulatory reporting and analysis, Including Board of Directors and HQ reporting.
Support and coordination with internal - external auditors and regulators during audits and regulatory reviews.
Internal Control over Financial reporting including advice and monitoring of SOX Testing activities and other key control items (TID's, MAP's, MFR's, etc).
Risk Assessment/reviews of key Financial Reporting Processes.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable laws and GAAP.
Contribute toward process improvements through implementation of new systems, automation of reports to eliminate non-value added work and streamlining of functional procedures.
Ad-hoc projects as requested by Management.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
CPA a plus.

Experience:
2 - 5 years Accounting and/or Financial Reporting experience.
Banking/Financial Services knowledge/experience preferred.
Audit Experience desirable.

Technical Skills:
Knowledge of US GAAP.
Ability to think analytically and be able to communicate complex issues and develop recommendations as required.
Proficiency in MS-Office & Hyperion (Essbase) applications.
FRB / SEC reporting knowledge desired.

Position is located in Downtown Miami at Brickell Ave & Coral Way.
