Supervising Accountant - Reinsurance
Description: Supervises the planning and direction of departmental activities, including maintenance of ledger accounts and production of financial statements. Requires advanced technical accounting knowledge, and oversees the efficient operation of operating programs and systems. Directs (supervises and reviews performance of) a group a general accountants. Typically supervises one accounting discipline (e.g. regulatory reporting, budget/cost).
Qualifications:
Primary responsibilities include supervising a staff of four accountants responsible for proper recording of reinsurance transactions and balancing of reinsurance accounts in compliance with organizational, contractual, and statutory reporting requirements. This includes accounting and billing for various reinsurance contracts, including cash and receivable balancing, ledger interfaces, journal entries, reconciliations and bank wire activity. Additional responsibilities include supporting independent financial audits, internal audits and other ad hoc requests, including reinsurance reports and schedules for reference by external reinsurers and various internal customers. BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business (or equivalent accounting experience). CPA preferred. Requires a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience as well as prior experience leading projects.
