Supervisor, Accounts Payable

Position Description

 

Position Title:  P-card and T&E Supervisor, Accounts Payable



 

Position Reports To: Manager, Accounts Payable

 

I. Description of Position

 

The P-card and T&E Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day oversight and direction of the Accounts Payable staff. In addition, the Supervisor will work closely with the AP Manager to maintain acceptable service levels for AP functions.  Candidate should be a proven team leader with a positive work ethic focusing on customer service.

 

The P-card and T&E Supervisor will be responsible for: (1) ensuring that his/her group follows the established AP processes that comply with internal controls, (2) actively monitoring the efficiency and accuracy of direct reports, (3) serving as the contact point for the p-card, corporate card, and T&E programs, (4) managing p-card and T&E submissions processes, (5) assisting the AP manager as necessary in report generation, (6) resolving issues that are escalated through direct reports, (7) driving increased p-card and corporate card usage in appropriate categories, (8) ensuring expense policy compliance, (9) handling all performance management issues; to include employee development, disciplinary action, etc., (10) other duties as assigned.

 

II.  Responsibilities for Personnel

 

The P-card and T&E Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing work and assigning day-to-day tasks for approximately 10-15 AP clerks.  As well as managing the team by addressing all business related conflicts and concerns.

 

III. Principal Contacts

 

The P-card and T&E Supervisor will work closely with and for the AP Manager. The P-card and T&E Supervisor will also serve as the contact point for plant employees regarding p-card, corporate card, and T&E issues and questions. The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the p-card/corporate card vendor relationship which includes working with the p-card vendor and large vendors to increase p-card acceptance.

 

IV. Accountability

 

The AP Supervisor will be responsible for meeting or exceeding performance metrics established by the AP Manager in the AP Service Level Agreements.

 

V.  Knowledge and Skill Requirements

 

Education ? required to possess an undergraduate degree or commensurate work experience.

 

Experience ? required to have a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Additionally, 3 of those years should be in a supervisory role overseeing 5 or more people, preferably in a Shared Services environment. Experience implementing p-card, corporate card, and T&E solutions is a plus. The aforementioned experience may come from a multitude of sources, with preference given to experience in a fast-paced consumer products, manufacturing, food service, or a public accounting background.

 

Additional Qualifications­ ? (1) be a strong team leader, (2) have strong verbal and written communication skills that will allow them to express key points in a clear manner, (3) be able to manage a group of people to meet tight deadlines and improve efficiencies based on targeted metrics, (4) possess excellent organizational and analytical skills, (5) have the ability to work with minimal direction when necessary to support the group?s objectives, (6) possess high attention to detail, and accuracy, within a high-volume work environment, (8) Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in various computer applications (flexible and sophisticated enough to work with any accounting system), MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and others.
