Oversees and coordinates all surgical billing functions for the New England eye Center including answering patient inquiries, supervising billing clerk, co-management of billing staff at Boston and satellites relative to billing practices and referral systems under the direction of the Billing Manager, and coordinating satellite billing reports and documentation. Establishes systems to monitor and track Eye Center surgical and billing functions and acts as a liaison between the New England Eye Center, New England Medical Center, and other individuals, institutions, and organizations. Excellent organizational skills and ability to keep accurate records. Strong in interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with physicians, families, visitors, and various levels of personnel within the Eye Center, and the Medical Center, and insurance agencies. Medical terminology and the knowledge of Federal CPT coding policies preferred. Working knowledge of computer systems. Initiative and durability to work under stress due to deadlines, volume of work, and range of activities. Level of knowledge generally obtained through the completion of an Associates Degree. Knowledge of healthcare management helpful. At least two years experience in a health care setting. Previous supervisory and surgical scheduling experience preferred. Communication and interaction with professional and medical staff preferred.
