Systems Support Engineer

Systems Support Engineer is directly responsible for the implementation and daily operational management of the client's global applications and database system environment for the client. This individual will be required to interface directly with development managers, business managers and application support managers to support and implement secure proprietary applications (mostly ASP.Net/VB.Net) in a global environment.



A successful candidate should have 5-7 years of experience supporting Windows servers in an enterprise environment and a solid understanding of several Microsoft technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting a medium-sized Windows server farm running SQL Server 2000/2005 and Microsoft web technologies, especially IIS. Experience with application firewall/reverse proxy solutions such as Bluecoat and/or Whale is a plus. Hands-on experience with Windows Sharepoint Services and Sharepoint Portal Server is a strong plus.



Candidates should have solid project management skills, as well as good verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should be highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment, and be able to adapt to changing business priorities.





Job ResponsibilitiesInterface directly with development managers, developers, and business managers to provide release support and operational support for the client's applications environment

Work closely with the Database Manager and Systems Manager to maximize system and application availability and efficiency

Manage and maintain productive relationships with an offshore development team

Diagnose and troubleshoot Microsoft application, database, and system issues using appropriate monitoring and diagnostic tools

Demonstrate and apply rigorous, process-driven project management principles in delivering technology solutions

Deliver and maintain up-to-date documentation on processes and procedures related to systems administration

Keep current on emerging technologies and make recommendations when applicable

Work with the other functional teams (Data Center, Network, Security, Messaging and Applications) to implement enterprise wide solutions.





Job / Educational RequirementsWhile every effort will be made to respect the employees privacy and personal time, the position will require the candidate to perform maintenance as well as respond to critical situations after normal business hours or during weekends (Saturday or Sunday). A mobile phone for use in critical situations will also be necessary and is expected to be reachable upon being called.

Must have strong engineering experience (5+ years) in:

Windows 2000/2003 operating system

SQL Server 2000 and 2005

IIS and NLB

BizTalk Server

Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server

Server hardware technologies, such as IBM or HP





In addition, candidate must possess the following:



Excellent troubleshooting skills and analytical ability

Knowledge about VMWare and virtualization technologies

Experience with mass storage technologies, such as SAN

Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio

Solid project management skills

Strong networking skills

Excellent customer communication skills

Flexible schedule to accommodate for travel to other locations for IT staff meetings, training and/or assist with client's projects

Ability to test and introduce new utilities to help the environment

? Ability to multi-task and prioritize work for self and/or small team independently

? Ability to resolve complex problems seeking guidance when necessary

? Be able to travel internationally and hold a valid passport



Education Requirements? Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college

? MCSE or equivalent work experience
