TAX ANALYST II

Job Description: GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for preparation and some review of complex Federal and State returns, estimated payments and tax research memorandums.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Preparation & Review of Returns and Estimated Tax Payments
A. Responsible for the completion of timely and accurate complex Federal and Unitary state income tax returns.
B. Reviews less complex Federal and State income tax returns prepared by others.
C. Interacts with affiliate CFO's on a continual basis for information relating to the above.
D. Maintain, improve and integrate computer applications to the company's tax compliance procedures.
E. Analysis and review of the Federal estimated tax payment.
F. Analysis of other leasing items including True Leases, Leverage Leases, QTE, LILO's, and Service Contracts.
G. Responsible for gathering of leasing information to be used in the calculation of the Alternative Minimum Tax.
II. Corporate Tax Research
A. Research areas of tax law as appropriate including analysis of the data related to the issue.
B. Research corporate tax issues of law raised during the return preparation, both Federal and State.
C. Research corporate tax issues of law raised during tax audits, both Federal and State.
III. Tax Accounting
A. Responsible for the review of Affiliate monthly tax provisions. Compares tax expense calculated to expense booked, and analyzes over/under expense.
B. Oversee the recording of tax accounting entries.
C. Reconcile and prepare analysis on general ledger tax accounts and reserves.
D. Calculates the deferred balances and taxes paid on a quarterly basis for inclusion in published financials.
IV. Lease Accounting
A. Analysis of lease data including review of adjustments to data obtained from the lease accounting system, analysis of errors and adjustments to that data (such as "rewrites") and responsible for the reconciliation of the lease schedule
M. Responsible for management of the calculation of the Commercial and preparation of the Consumer Lease Schedule
M. The total of these two schedule M's equal 80% of the consolidated return schedule
M.
B. Initiate and maintain contact with the leasing controller, leasing operations manager, data processing personnel and data operations personnel.
V. Audits
A. Responsible for answering Information Document Requests for Leasing Company and Midwest Payment Systems Inc. as well as other entities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



No direct supervisory responsibilities. However, the position is responsible for providing guidance and feedback to less experienced analysts within the department.

Supervise analysts and interns in daily responsibilities.
