Tax Accountant - Part time

SUMMARY:

Part-time position responsible for all aspect of tax accounting and compliance.  Manage the company's tax filings and obligations to ensure complete tax compliance with all Federal, State and Local taxing authority requirements including but not limited to income, property, sales and use taxes.  Prepare quarterly and annual tax calculations in accordance with SFAS 109.  Prepare disclosures for the company?s 10-Q and 10-K.  Work with external auditors and tax advisors on ad hoc requests as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage tax filings and requirements for the federal consolidated income tax return, Federal partnership returns, state income returns, annual reports, personal property returns, and use tax returns to ensure company compliance with regulatory agencies related to each taxing jurisdiction  

Prepare quarterly and annual tax calculations in accordance with SFAS 109.  On a quarterly basis prepare workpapers supporting the tax computations and disclosures required for the company?s 10-Q and 10-K. 

Function as liaison with the external auditors and tax advisors. Coordination of consolidating international results and review of monthly activity.

Respond to government notices as the company's point of contact to federal, state and local tax auditors

Prepare and file estimated quarterly tax payments, federal and state extensions, unclaimed property reports to states and periodic filings.

Perform monthly reconciliation of various tax-related balance sheet accounts which require in-depth analysis and research.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related corporate tax experience and experience dealing with various taxing authorities.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Strong analytic skills and knowledge of various federal, state and local tax codes, rules and regulations.  Proven leader with excellent communication skills interacting with external taxing authorities.  High degree of organization to manage filing deadlines, strong knowledge of Excel, working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and good communication skills.  Experience with Lawson and Vantagetax tax preparation software packages a plus.

Education: B.S. in Accounting. CPA Plus
