Tax Accountant - Sales/Use Tax

Position Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for research related to non-income taxes for the Verizon companies. The research required relates to sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other non income tax for Verizon's new product offerings. As part of this research, the candidate will deal with the various Verizon billing systems and related personnel. In addition, the candidate will interface with Product Managers, Product Mapping, Tax Legal, and Regulatory personnel.
 
 Required Skills and Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.  The candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in the state and local tax area with an emphasis on compliance and research.The candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of State and Local Taxes, tax accounting, and the basis for the imposition of tax.The position requires an understanding of State and Local Tax Laws and the capability to perform tax research; compliance with tax laws and financial requirements; Knowledge of financial systems; and tax planning to minimize Company cash flow and overall tax burden.Should have proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)Experience with on-line tax research tools. 

Desired Skills and Experience: Experience with large mechanized systems (i.e. billing, general ledger, and A/P).Familiarity with automated tax systems.
