Ernst & Young's State & Local Tax Practice provides the knowledge, experience, resources, and processes to bridge the gap between what is expected of a company's tax department and its current capacity. In addition to having depth of technical knowledge and experience, our professionals are knowledgeable about the business challenges companies are facing and how those challenges affect a company's state and local tax position. Our national network of practitioners focuses on both direct and indirect state and local taxes by offering a broad array of services.

We are currently seeking a Business Tax Credits Senior with a background in identifying and capturing business and tax credits involving some combination of research, documentation, implementation and/or compliance. This position offers excellent opportunities for learning and career advancement to the right candidate.

Responsibilities This is a challenging and essential role with responsibility for project management, execution and results. Candidates should be able to demonstrate some working knowledge of tax credits and incentives, excellent research and investigative skills, and capacity to interact with and obtain critical information from government officials and corporate executives.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of and some success implementing the following core competencies:

WOTC and Welfare-to-Work tax credits and related state tax credit programs Federal Empowerment Zone/Renewal Community and state Enterprise Zone tax credits, and similar tax credits for other targeted areas Investment tax credits Job tax credits Employee training tax credits

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must have:

2 to 4 years business experience, with working knowledge of federal and state tax credits and/or incentives A Bachelors degree, preferably with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or a related field State and local taxation experience preferred Strong interest in federal and state tax credits Ideal background would include experience with a location/incentives consulting firm or a state and local tax consulting firm A CPA and/or an advanced degree in tax or law is a plus
