Team Manager - Contracts Administration

This Team Manager role in the Home Office Service Team (HOST) is responsible for the supervision of daily activities for a team of 5-6 contract administration associates. The team is primarily responsible for understanding the terms in the selling, trading, service and regulatory agreements American Funds has with third-party intermediaries (broker-dealers, third-party administrators/ record keepers, Trust companies, school districts, colleges/ universities). This will involve the administration and review of legal agreements and contracts between American Funds and these intermediaries. The Team Manager will have regular interaction with other Capital Group (CG) business units (legal and compliance, marketing, transfer agent, finance & accounting, fund accounting) as well as oversee associate interactions with intermediary firms through inbound and outbound phone calls, ad-hock and canned letters and e-mail. Interactions will include compliance professionals, Principals and the legal department at these firms. The Team Manager will review contract changes requested by firms, as well as recommendations made by associates on the team, ensuring consistency with CG business practices. This may also involve legal and regulatory compliance matters, ensuring a high level of service and quality. The Team Manager will be expected to stay apprised of current regulatory issues, Capital Group standards, and compliance topics.

The Team Manager will also coordinate and manage workflow, review work, assist with problem resolution, provide feedback and coaching based on performance assessment, and facilitate development plans for associates on the team. This role requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills are essential as this role requires frequent interaction with internal and external business contacts as well as with associates throughout the organization.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role you should have:
- Previous supervisory experience in the financial services/ compliance/ legal/ or accounting industry; Bachelors degree preferred
- Experience directly interfacing with clients and coordinating/facilitating information among various parties
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with preparing letters and other related correspondence
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with various database systems, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to think and act independently, yet work effectively in a team environment.
