Job Description
Maintain inventory of all questions (multiple-choice, simulations, research, constructed response, etc.) for the Audit section of the CPA exam. Typical work-related activities include:Review new multiple-choice items developed by item writers and ensure they are technically accurate and meet quality standards before submitting to subcommittee for approval.Perform coding and editing of questions in the item bank as appropriate, including proper referencing in accordance with authoritative literature.Analyze testing statistics for questions that are not performing well statistically and make determinations to either remove or rework as appropriate.Rework multiple choice items that have been identified for rework, and provide to committees for review/approval as appropriate.Ensure questions/simulations are developed or removed in response to obsolescence, content specification guidelines, etc.Responsible for design and development of quality simulations, research prompts, and constructed response questions, relative to assigned section of the CPA exam. This includes developing ideas for simulations and attending development meetings with external parties to provide insight into their work.Document scoring rubrics and rationales for simulation questions, and ensure they are appropriately implemented in production. Adjudicate scoring issues/candidate appeals that arise for your respective section of the exam. This involves reviewing the recommendations of the subject-matter-experts who performed the hand-scoring and determining a final recommendation. Assist in the review of emerging authoritative literature and/or laws/regulations that impact the exam. This includes making recommendations during the process of performing impact analysis for emerging issues.Coordinate and facilitate subcommittee meetings, and represent the AICPA as staff liaison. This includes ensuring meetings are scheduled appropriately and in accordance with travel/expense guidelines, determining the agendas and materials to be presented at meetings, overseeing preparation of materials for advance mailing, conducting meetings and presenting materials for subcommittee review, and handling follow-up matters and communication appropriately.Coordinate with production and psychometric areas to facilitate test assembly and analysis processes related to the exam.Maintain strict quality control and security procedures.Ensure documentation is maintained as appropriate; follow established procedures for change-control and authorizations.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:Professional Credentials ? a CPA with five to eight years of experience in public accounting and/or industry or teaching, with strong technical knowledge in the areas of auditing/attestation and financial reporting. An advanced degree is a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to analyze written material for editorial and content errors is critical. Strong proofreading and mathematical skills.Detail-orientation and documentation. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail and an emphasis on documentation.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead committees effectively and work in a team environment.Strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with databases and ability to adapt to new computer technologies and systems.Ability to handle multiple priorities/projects simultaneously and work both independently and as part of a team.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and document issues, evaluate policy implications, and develop recommendations.Must be flexible and have the ability to travel, including some weekend work.
