Wholesale Accounting Manager

Our client, Save-A-Lot grocery stores, the most successful edited assortment grocery chain, has an immediate need for an Accounting Manager within their Wholesale Accounting group.  With well over 1000 stores nationwide, their plan is to double in size in the next few years. In addition, they have 15 distribution centers in operations located across the country.

 

Position Description:

? Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all journal entries and account reconciliations for all company accounts and operations; review all account reconciliations and report status monthly to Director of Accounting regarding unreconciled accounts and aged reconciling items

? Ensure compliance with established procedures and maintain effective internal controls over the accounting operations of the company; update and maintain written procedures and guidelines relating to the company?s distribution accounting process; coordinate communication with Inventory Control, Shared Services, Store and Distribution management and other impacted departments

? Review and assess current accounting practices in all areas for which this position is responsible; identify and implement improvements focusing on internal controls, accuracy and efficiency of operations

? Assist in the rollout and implementation of Accounting restructure plan; direct the development of new departments and management staff ensuring adequate staffing for each area; assist with the testing and implementation of new accounting systems

? Manage the accounting organization including the development and cross training of subordinates, individual counseling of department management where required, performance appraisals for the group, etc

 

Qualifications/Skills:

? Bachelors degree in Accounting; advanced degree and/or CPA preferred

? Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a corporate or public accounting environment with a minimum of 2 of these years in a direct management role required

? Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Excel

? Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

? Strong verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills

? Demonstrated strengths in project management, teambuilding, and driving change across the organization

? Customer-driven, team player committed to developing partnerships and maintaining strong working relationships with other departments

? Must be flexible and task-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

? Must be proactive and able to independently identify and resolve issues

? Must be resourceful and action-oriented with the ability to get things done, overcome obstacles, and handle complexity, ambiguity and time pressures

? Detail-oriented and able to detect errors and assess pervasiveness
