Position Description: Directing general ledger accounting function; supervising accounting, accounts payable and payroll departments; assisting with internal and external reporting; assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley implementation and management may request performing such other reasonable duties as.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Prior experience as controller or similar position with financial (SEC) reporting experience.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of three years working experience in the Accounting field, good written, oral and computer skills. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and knowledge of General Ledger software (Great Plains experience is a plus). (Certification or Master's Degree a plus)

Today, Mountaineer encompasses approximately 3,220 slot machines (approved for 280 more), a year-round thoroughbred racetrack with import and export simulcasting, 359 hotel rooms, spa, fitness center, golf course, fine dining, casual dining, quick service dining, room service and entertainment, a 69,000 square foot theater and events center, and a 39,000 square foot convention center.

 

MTR Gaming Group is an established, profitable company with significant growth opportunities. MTR, through subsidiaries, owns and operates the Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort in Chester, West Virginia. Additionally, through subsidiaries, the Company owns and operates Scioto Downs, a harness horse racing facility in Columbus, Ohio; the Ramada Inn and Speedway Casino in North Las Vegas; Binion?s Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas; and holds a license to build a new thoroughbred racetrack in Erie, Pennsylvania. Of note, slot machines were legalized in PA in July 2004. The Company also owns a 50% interest in the North Metro Harness Initiative, which has a license to construct and operate a harness racetrack 30 miles north of downtown Minneapolis (judicial review pending), and has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 90% interest in Jackson Trotting Association, which operates Jackson Harness Raceway in Jackson, Michigan.
