? Provides instrument and electrical maintenance engineering expertise in multiple chemical production units.? Maintains and improves plant reliability through identifying/correcting bad actors, conducting root cause failure analyses, and implementing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.? Provides leadership and direct supervision for the BASF instrument technicians as may be assigned, including the team leader, planner, and technicians.? Works with other TTES I&E and mechanical engineers, instrument technicians, and the contractor mechanical team members to perform routine, extraordinary, and turnaround maintenance activities. ? Collaborates with operations personnel in troubleshooting I&E problems and implementing technology improvements, provides guidance and training as appropriate to promote proper operation and maintenance of I&E hardware and software.? Provides input to preparing the maintenance budget, and controls spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.? Monitors key performance indicators, and supports and implements continuous improvements to the maintenance work processes in order to enhance plant availability and reduce the plant repair factor. ? Administers the various elements of the maintenance program, including DCS and safety systems support, device inspections and calibrations, spare parts availability, and similar activities. ? Ensures proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements, and maintains current requirements as to equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.? Seeks compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promotes a safe working environment.? Performs as instrument discipline engineer for projects and manages small projects as assigned, and is responsible for seeking additional expertise as situations may warrant.? Participates and contributes on teams or via ad hoc assignments with other Site and NAFTA engineers to review, update, and develop mechanical procedures, guidelines, standards, and practices. Centers of Expertise (COE?s) and peer working teams are examples.? Acts independently regarding most daily and weekly activities, and reports to / interacts with supervising Technology TES Manager, usually on a consult, report basis.

Knowledge obtained through earning a BS degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering. Industrial experience regarding chemical plant instrument and electrical design and construction, and in particular maintenance and troubleshooting. Understanding of best industry practices regarding maintenance work processes. General knowledge of instrumentation and controls systems repair, some electrical systems repair, project execution, and construction and installation techniques. General computer skills and user knowledge of and experience with computerized maintenance management systems, preferably SAP. Experience with configuration and maintenance of distributed control systems, preferably Foxboro. A professional engineer?s license is helpful, but not mandatory.
