Centene Corporation provides multi-line managed care programs and related services to individuals receiving benefits in Medicaid, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the State Children's Health Insurance (SCHIP). Centene operates health plans in seven states. In addition, the Centene contracts with other healthcare organizations to provide specialty services including behavioral health, disease management, nurse triage and treatment compliance.
POSITION PURPOSE: Perform a variety of administrative tasks as well as special projects for a department(s) or individual(s) (director level or below).
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Experience: High school degree or equivalent plus at least three years related experience. Experience in the field the person will be supporting is preferred.
Skills/ Competencies: Proficient in current Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet and graphic programs; understanding of telephone system; good organizational skills; ability to independently perform research for specific projects/duties; ability to work with minimal supervision; possess thorough knowledge of department and group structure; ability to handle confidential information; ability to independently set assignment priorities and deadlines; ability to independently set assignment priorities and deadlines; ability to design complex documents including presentation materials, spreadsheets and bar graphs; and excellent interpersonal skills.
CRITICAL JOB ELEMENTS: Normal office work environment. Dexterity of hands and fingers, and little physical effort. Above average effort including complexity and timeliness of decision making, analytical and conceptual skills and memory. Excellent verbal, written and non-verbal communications skills. Ability to see and hear.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Routine Duties: Provide backup for other assistants. Keep calendars for supervisor and other department members. Maintain department files and information recall system. Order, receive and disburse office supplies to meet department needs. Perform research for specific projects/duties independently and set assignment priorities and deadlines. Answer telephone calls and handle appropriately. Handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
Typing and Correspondence: Prepare and distribute routine correspondence. Update, type and distribute special information and reports. Distribute departmental mail. Type and distribute periodic reports (i.e, weekly, monthly).
Computer Skills: Design complex documents, including presentation materials, spreadsheets and bar graphs.
Meeting/Travel Arrangements: Arrange meetings and make travel arrangements
Attendance: Punctuality and regular attendance required including overtime.
