Administrative Assistant III - (MB11312)

Centene Corporation provides multi-line managed care programs and related services to individuals receiving benefits in Medicaid, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the State Children's Health Insurance (SCHIP). Centene operates health plans in seven states. In addition, the Centene contracts with other healthcare organizations to provide specialty services including behavioral health, disease management, nurse triage and treatment compliance.

POSITION PURPOSE: Provide a variety of complex administrative tasks as well as special projects for a department(s) or individual(s).

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent plus at least seven years related experience. Experience in the field the person will be supporting is preferred.


Skills/ Competencies: Proficient in current Microsoft word processing; possess effective time management skills; ability to prepare communications from draft; excellent editing and grammar skills; ability to read and understand documents, interpret a variety of instructions and comprehend and process complex information; understanding of department procedures; awareness of work environment and its specific function; possess basic math skills; ability to perform research and data gathering assignments with little or no supervision; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; excellent interpersonal skills; work well without supervision; and understanding of key individuals in the Company and health plan.

CRITICAL JOB ELEMENTS: Normal office work environment. Dexterity of hands and fingers, and little physical effort. Above average effort including complexity and timeliness of decision making, analytical and conceptual skills and memory. Excellent verbal, written and non-verbal communications skills. Ability to see and hear.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Routine Duties: Schedule the daily functions of the executive. Set up and maintain files which contain confidential and sensitive information. Compose letters and memoranda from dictation, verbal direction or from knowledge of organization policy or procedures. Receive and handle highly confidential messages and correspondence. Answer telephone and provide information in accordance with organizational policy. Take and relay messages. Screen telephone calls, incoming mail, and visitors.
Meeting and Travel Arrangements: Prepare memoranda and other materials for staff and business meetings. Make travel and lodging arrangements as required. Coordinate large (sometimes company-wide) and health plan Board of Director's and Committee meetings.
Report Preparation: Prepare regularly scheduled or special reports.
Group Leader: Direct the work or training of lower level staff as required.
Special Projects: Collect information needed by executive for conferences, reports or projects. Collect and prepare information for use in discussions and meetings with executive staff members and outside individuals. Assist executive with personal errands or work, as necessary.
