Administrative Assistant- Payroll/HR
Position Description: Assists department in carrying out various personnel programs and procedures for all employees.
Processes employee time records; transmits information to outsourced payroll system; distributes payroll information to employees.
Coordinates benefits administration through provider contacts and employee information including group health plans, unemployment reporting, workers compensation and employee stock plan.
Participates in recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel (excluding managerial levels and above); helps coordinate recruiting and use of temporary employees.
Assists with new employee orientations; administers pre-employment tests; conducts background checks.
Files EEO-1 annual report; maintains other records, reports and logs pertaining to applicant flow procedures.
Assists with reporting employee information to various regulatory agencies.
Assists in exit process for departing employees.
Assists in organizational training and development efforts.
Uses HRIS system to maintain records and compiles reports from database as needed.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Helps to maintain employee directory.
Assists with employee relations efforts including birthdays, anniversaries, luncheons, parties and other events.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Associates or Bachelors degree in human resources, business or related field plus one to two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret business and human resource-related regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to write effective business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and external parties including governmental agencies.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: NA
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to remain calm and perform well under pressure. Good interpersonal skills required for communicating with employees and external parties.
