Admission Coordination Team Representative

Job Summary:   Reporting directly to the Admitting Supervisor, the ACT REPRESENTATIVE is responsible for pre-registering patients, verifying patient benefits, securing authorization of inpatient as well as select outpatient accounts; notifying payers, medical groups and primary care providers of patient admissions, and providing a high level of customer service in accordance with established Hospital and departmental regulations, policies and procedures.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Verifies patient benefits and ensures authorizations for procedures/admissions are obtained in a timely manner for all scheduled and urgently admitted patients.

 

Notifies payers, medical groups and/or primary care providers when patients are admitted to Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.

 

Communicates with patients in a confidential, professional manner using tact and diplomacy.  Notifies patients and their families of co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance as appropriate.

 

Pre-registers inpatient and select outpatient accounts

 

Incorporates supervisory feedback into daily operations.  Participates in quality reviews.

 

Uses department standard worklists and priority matrices to prioritize daily workflow.  Uses appropriate work list codes and turns them into the appropriate party in a timely manner.

 

Follows planned priorities as assigned by the Admitting Supervisor.

 

Develops strong working relationships with other units within Patient Admitting such as Registration and Financial Counseling.  Additionally, develops working relationships with other departments such as Case Management, Medical Records, LPCH clinics and divisions, and other services and clinics to ensure maximum communication and coordination of service delivery.

 

Functions as an insurance expert for ACT

 

Uses appropriate documentation standards

 

Qualifications

 

Medical Terminology: Basic knowledge required

Work Experience: Previous experience as an Insurance Verifier or Registrar preferred

Office Machine Skills: Knowledge of office machines, including personal computers, and an ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.  Experience with Hospital Information Systems such as Meditech and IDX to learn new systems and programs. 

 

This is a 6 months position

Pay Rate is $18.00
