Bilingual Proofreader

Bilingual Proofreader The person in this position will spend approximately 90% of their time proofing in English, and 10% proofing in Spanish. This position is primarily proofing, NOT editing. This person will be working with creative copy, and will be correcting grammar errors rather than recasting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Check spelling and grammar in both English and Spanish
? Proofread copy, lasers and proofs in Spanish
? Input and/or format creative copy and maintain copy files for assigned clients and all clients with Spanish copy
? Effectively use individual client style guides specific to each proofreading assignment
? Place special emphasis on all Spanish-language work (no translations unless certified)
? Meet deadlines
REQUIRED SKILLS
? Mac familiarity
? Proficiency in Microsoft Word

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
? College degree or equivalent
? Certified translator
? 2-3 years experience in proofreading, or related field (i.e. teaching or journalism)
? Formal education in both Spanish and English (native Spanish speaker preferred)
? Able to work on rotating work schedule (can sometimes entail evenings and/or weekend work)
