The Orange County Community Foundation, founded in 1989, provides grants to charities from funds established by individuals, families, businesses and others that want to help meet the needs of their local community. It is a non-profit organization created by the people of Orange County to assist donors in giving strategically and effectively and to act as a solid platform for building a strong community. Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Charitable Gift Planning Associate will be diverse and may be similar to that of a paralegal in a large law firm with a number of major exceptions ? no billable hours; the community members with whom you will be interacting will actually look forward to hearing from you; and the work you do will make a positive difference in our community!
In support of the Director of Gift Planning, the Charitable Gift Planning Associate will be called upon to prepare reports and proposals, provide and explain charitable gift planning calculations, create Fund Agreements, and personally interact with donors and community leaders while also providing general administrative support to the Director of Gift Planning including scheduling, correspondence, managing mailings, maintaining a database and arranging and supporting seminars and events. The Charitable Gift Planning Associate will also be asked to serve as a liaison with the Finance and Donor Relations departments of the Community Foundation.
Hiring Qualifications:
? Background in estate planning, real estate and/or financial planning.
? Legal work experience and/ or successful completion of Certified Legal Assistant examination.
? Minimum of a two-year college degree, or equivalent in skills and experience.
? General understanding of the Federal tax system.
? General understanding of different types of business entities.
? Interest and/or experience in marketing.
? Demonstrated ability to interact at a professional level with community members and professional advisors.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfort with transcription.
? Comfort with transcription.
? Thorough working knowledge of computer software including calculation and illustration software programs, word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, document management, electronic mail and database programs.
? Sensitivity to confidential matters.
? Highly organized and able to multi-task, and track multiple projects.
? Familiarity with the nonprofit world, via volunteer work, as a donor or previous work experience.
? Attention to detail a must.
? Working knowledge of ?planned giving? and charitable products is a plus.
? Excellent interpersonal skills.? Team player who works cooperatively with others.
Compensation
Starting salary range is $42,500 - $47,500. Full medical, dental and retirement benefits.
