Database Specialist

Philip Morris USA Inc., a global leader in the manufacturing and marketing of consumer products made for adults, seeks an experienced Database Specialist to provide support to the Litigations Technology Team in the Law Department in Richmond, VA.

A successful candidate will perform a variety of complex tasks (such as analyzing data and delegating workloads) which may contribute in advising or facilitating services for use by others. The incumbent will collaborate with departmental and/or cross-functional team members on projects and process development with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Associates degree to include completion of related coursework or specialized training related to position up to and including certifications

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

The ability to interact with all levels within and outside of the company.

Experience with high volume document preparation and reproduction required

Experience in document production with law firm or in complex litigation preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Excel, Word and Access

Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as good oral communication skills

Must be able to work in a non-routine environment with minimal supervision

Must have the ability to handle exceptions and non-routine work with the ability to recognize when issues need to be escalated

Must have the ability to objectively code documents looking for key identifiers and accurately enter the designated information into an on-line litigation document database following precise guidelines

Must be capable of subjectively coding documents for content analysis. This analysis will be reflective of the issues defined by the attorneys as being relevant to the pending litigation for which they are preparing

Good spelling ability, analytical skills as well as good communication and keyboard skills

Must possess excellent attention to detail and strong proofreading skills

Must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work load appropriately

Work with Database Analysts to execute database searches and document retrieval

Use computer applications to create worksheets and cover sheets for document reviewers and analysts

Use scanning equipment to create electronic images of documents, and copies document sets onto electronic media, including CD and DVD-ROMs.
