Job Description
The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the fleet, through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities, including cost control, management development, and superior training and safety standards.
?Oversee the daily operation of the maintenance department for hauling facilities in Cambridge, MD and Pocomoke, MD.
?Review routine maintenance being performed and document according to Company standards.
?Effectively interact and work with other maintenance managers and supervisors within the MSA to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective operation of the fleet.
?Ensure all systems are operational
?Comply and ensure adherence to Waste Management?s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
?Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
?Assist in budget process as required.
?Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
?Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shop through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
?Prepare and conduct all interviews for shift supervisors and maintenance personnel, and follow hiring procedures according to Waste Management hiring policies.
?Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline shift supervisors according to Waste Management?s policies and procedures and ensure that supervisors are also in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps to maintenance personnel.
?Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
?Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional
manner.
?Ensure that all employees receive fair and equitable treatment.
?Maintain open door policy.
?Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
?Approach all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service oriented manner.
?Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
?Always maintain appropriate confidentiality of all verbal and/or documented
Information
Minimum Job Requirements
?A minimum of 4 - 6 years of related progressive experience in diesel truck fleet management.
?A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
?High School diploma or GED equivalent.
?Ability to travel between Cambridge, MD and Pocomoke, MD as needed.
?Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
?Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
?Must have quick problem solving ability.
?Ability to maintain confidentiality.
?Must have the ability to assimilate complete information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
?Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and possess basic computational ability.
?Must possess basic computer skills.
?Good inter-personal skills.
?Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize departmental functions in order to meet due dates and deadlines.
?Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with cowork
Preferred Job Requirements
?A 4-year college degree and/or an advanced degree in business, industrial engineering or related field preferred.
?ASE certifications.
?4+ years supervisory experience.
?Experience within the waste, transportation or manufacturing field.
