Financial Counselor

We are seeking a Financial Counselor for 20 hours a week to handle insurance verification, pre-certification, first party payment arrangements and TOS collections for all inpatient and ASU accounts. Will Verify the correct insurance plan in the Patient Management System for all Inpatient and SPU patients to assure that a clean bill is produced within the time frames set by departmental policies. Will also document the Patient Accounting System to assist the CBO staff in billing and follow-up on the account. Will create an electronic patient file in the Care Center (electronic imaging system). Will provide on-campus customer service to assist patients, doctor?s offices and other departments with patient accounting issues. Will also assist uninsured and underinsured patients with alternative solutions for liquidating their financial responsibilities.

 High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must have good understanding of third party reimbursement methodologies for all third party payers especially per-certification and COB regulations. Must have a working knowledge of patient rights and compliance regulations and experience on automated patient accounting system and PC proficiency. Good communication and customer service skills. Need the ability to adapt readily to change and learn new skills.
