Logistics Technician

We?re looking for a Logistics technician to join our team and support one of our customers in Arlington, Virginia.
The selected individual will carry out limited projects and analyze a variety of routine facts in the areas of supply management, facility maintenance, and the processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
Supply Management:
? Maintains supply records for the Office of the Inspector General. Prepares and processes documents and reports associated with the requisition receipt, storage, inventory, shipment, disposition, and status of general and specialized supplies and equipment used by the organization. Operates the database system to enter and retrieve supply listings.
? Reviews all requests for Supplies, including both simple and complex items for proper nomenclature, stock number or manufacturers part number and source of procurement. Requisitions supplies and materials to assure adequate bench stock used in support of the agency. Maintains stock records and records of issue of weapons and ammunition and annotates stock records in accordance with agency regulations. Reviews stock on hand to assure availability of required items.
? Directs a variety of periodic inventories of nonexpendable property. Ensures inventory adjustment and reconciliation. Identifies excess and unserviceable supplies and initiates documentation for dispositions.
? Initiates requests for issue action for stocked items and local procurement items. Researches catalogs and manufacturers manuals to verify and complete necessary information of requisition forms. Determines priorities and initiates follow up actions for items not received in a timely manner. Receives and inspects incoming shipments to ensure correctness of items specified on receiving documents and inspects for damage/pilferage which may have occurred in transit. Processes documentation for transfer of sensitive items, formal accountability, and commercial carrier reimbursement. Assigns storage locations for proper control and compatibility of items stored.
? Prepares a variety of statistical and narrative reports coordinating with using and requesting organizations and with management for the purpose of forecasting standard supply usage required in support of the agency's mission.
Facility Management:
? Manages the facility help desk. Receives service requests; determines whether requests are for maintenance and repair, applicable to OIG funding, not duplicative of other requests, and if necessary, obtains information to complete requests, which may include visiting the job site. Provided feedback to requestor when appropriate. Assigns estimated hours for job completion based on engineered hours applied to the specific tasks or independent estimate. Determines whether the request is of an emergency, urgent, or routine in nature; issues orders to complete accordingly.
? Evaluates a sampling of requests in progress to conduct time and motion studies. Verifies hours applied to the specific tasks, and recommends changes as appropriate. Meets with the supervisor to provide advice and assistance in the implementation of revised work standards resulting from studies.
? Closes out job requests. Obtains complete information on labor and material expenditures for each request, and inputs data into automated work management system.
? Manages the agency copier program providing support and assistance on repairs, leases, and purchases. Prepares requests for rental and maintenance contracts and submits to supervisor in a timely manner. Prepares requests for emergency repairs of copiers and requisitions for copier supplies. Prepares correspondence requesting new or upgraded copier equipment, including justification. Prepares quarterly and annual reports of copier usage, cost, etc.
Mail Management:
? Manages and monitors the agency?s postal program. Reviews postal regulations, both Office of the Inspector General and U.S. Postal Service, to ensure agency policies and procedures comply with regulations, while seeking initiatives, formulate plans and suggesting directives to reduce costs. Prepares requisitions for all postal equipment and supplies. Monitors mail usage throughout the agency. Serves as OIG point of contact for problem resolution regarding mail management.
Minimum requirements:
? Practical knowledge of a wide range of well-established and commonly applied logistical management principles, concepts, and methodologies to provide services or resolve problems of a procedural nature in operations, planning, or program management.
? Knowledge of established logistical management systems to weigh the impact of variables such as cost existing policies and procedures, data processing requirements, and other issues that influence the course of action taken.
? Skill in performing analytical assignments involving specific issues associated with property management or operations.
? Skill in the use of personal computers and software programs in an office environment to extract, revise, or sort information from files, records, or databases.
? Ability to search for and analyze information; trace sequences of transactions to resolve questions; prepare entries for record systems, provide supply information, reports, and services, and recommend actions to eliminate problems involved in delivering services to customers or in implementing policies.
? Ability to recommend solutions for a segment of a broad study involving several issues or problems.
