Manager Transaction Taxes

This job exists to ensure that BASF Corporation and its subsidiaries (?Company?) are in compliance with all state & local sales/use, environmental, gross receipts, excise, insurance and miscellaneous taxes, annual reports and business license laws and takes advantage of all possible tax saving opportunities. Includes the proper and timely filing and payment of applicable tax returns, negotiating with auditors on the proper treatment of questionable items, filing of exemption applications/refund claims and providing guidance to field personnel.

Four-year College Degree in Business, preferably in Accounting with extensive (preferably manufacturing) sales & use tax experience (10+yrs) with a major corporation, law firm, public accounting firm, or government is essential. The individual must have a comprehen-sive knowledge of state & local tax laws, cases, rulings, etc. possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and provide tax solutions in an expedited manner. The individual should be well established in the tax community and connected with a host of networks both organizationally and with taxing jurisdictions. In addition, the individual needs to have a working knowledge of other areas of taxation. The individual must have leadership qualities and be able to motivate and develop others (this position will have one direct report). The individual must have strong computer and software application skills including experience using Excel, SAP and other applications including RIA and SABRIX. The individual should have an advanced degree(s) or working towards an advanced degree (MBA, MS in Taxation or Law Degree) or Certification (CPA).
