OPERATING ROOM OFFICE COORDINATOR

Schedule:
Full-time 80 hrs per pay period, day shift 6 am-4:30 pm, M-F

Description:

OPERATING ROOM OFFICE COORDINATOR WILL plan, coordinate, and provide administrative secretarial support for the Surgical Services Cluster, which includes the Leader/Manager, Education Coordinator, and the following Team Leaders: Central Processing, Surgi-Center, Main OR, Pre-Surgery, MDU, and PACU.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with SCMC policies and procedures within pertinent laws and regulations in the following areas:
1. Functions as administrative secretary to the Director of Surgical Services and subordinates.
2. Performs office procedures as needed.
3. Maintains confidentiality of Surgical Services records, including patient records, budget records, staff records, etc.
4. Coordinates issuance of keys & security badges to hospital employees.
5. Receives and processes various requests throughout Surgical Services.
6. Assists in compiling monthly budget reports.
7. Attends meetings as requested.

Requirements:
Education: High school graduate with a minimum of 6 months additional training in secretarial skills.

Registration: None.

Experience: Minimum of three years experience in an administrative level secretarial position or office management. Hospital or medical experience preferred.

Job Knowledge: Must demonstrate the ability to assess office workload and procedures. Must demonstrate the ability to prepare grammatically correct, properly proofread and spelled, keyed material which may include the composition of correspondence, minutes, and/or statistical and financial reports. Demonstrates proficiency in Windows, WordPerfect for Windows or Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate positively and effectively and possess excellent telephone skills. Effective team skills including interaction, support, and respect are required.

Computer Literacy: Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.
