Office Administrator - shape your own role as you set up processes at a fast growing small business

This position offers you the opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing business and shape this role to fit your own talents. We'll look to you to formalize our tracking procedures, ensuring that our people are in the right place at the right time and that we document all critical information. In contrast to being a "small cog in a big machine" in a corporate setting, you'll work closely with our founder and President and play a key role in our ongoing success. Assuming you are achieving your goals, you'll enjoy a great deal of autonomy, and we are open to hearing your preferences when initally setting your work hours.

As a construction and repair company, most of our activities take place in the field, and you'll act as the "anchor" in our office, coordinating project scheduling, materials research and purchasing, project tracking and reporting, budget tracking, communications with field staff, and maintenance of files. In many ways your mission will be to anticipate the needs and actions of our President and handle the administration of the business so he can focus on business development.

To be a good fit for this position you'll have solid administration and communication skills and familiarity with customary business applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks. Experience with Access or FileMaker is a plus, as is a bachelor's degree and experience in the construction trades. Like most small businesses, our success is built upon the charisma and strong personality of our founder, and we're looking for an individual with the professional maturity to remain unruffled by a direct, no-nonsense style.
