Ops Engineer Sr - Utilities

Assist the Operations Team to achieve production and efficiency requirements for the Utilities plant by participating in all aspects of operations. Principal responsibilities will include: -Utilizing technical background and troubleshooting techniques to improve the processes.-Provide leadership to ensure safe plant operations.-Conduct training of team members with regards to operation's technology, plant experiences, plant record keeping, and safety.-Function as liaison with all service groups to ensure that work related to the production facilities is accomplished correctly, promptly and in the most cost effective manner.- Contribute technical expertise to operations personnel for cost improvements, and meeting customer demands in a most cost effective manner.-Assure 100% compliance with EPA and TCEQ permit limits on potable water, boiler & Cogen emissions and wastewater effluent, and review compliance data and take corrective measures. -Monitor and make recommendations for controlling Utility Distribution systems, wastewater system, boiler, Cogen, Steam system, D.I. water system, Firewater, and potable water system, and other auxiliaries (Nitrogen, Methane, and Caustic)-Participate in department UST, Safety and QTE programs.-Conduct housekeeping inspections and maintain a clean and safe working area.

Shift Work: Minimal Shift work.

Amount of travel involved: Minimal travel required (~5%)

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to interface with internal and external customers (Being in Utilities), engineering, maintenance, and various site and corporate functional groups, as well as outside vendors and contractors. Ability to work well in a team environment is necessary. Strong technical skills to help troubleshoot problems in different areas and good knowledge. Support in developing production reports and Operations plan for the department. Sometimes requires working long hours to support operations, during heavy rain events, and weekend calls. Willingness to volunteer for the department activities, as COE teams, Hurricane team, and site activities. Candidate should posses strong leadership skills in order to assist Operations Manager where required. Exposure to computer systems such as SAP, Microsoft office, and DCS would be beneficial. Prior experience in operations, process or project engineering desired.
