Full-time, temporary, "exempt" position through March 31, 2007 (with the possibility of converting to permanent). Salary: $3,562.00 to $5,344.00 per month. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Duties: Under the general direction of the Associate Director, the incumbent will perform project design/coordination and will assist the project administration with various construction permit program projects on campus. The incumbent will be responsible for various new and renovated construction projects from the program development phase, pre-design, through final project delivery, assuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with Disabilities that are in place, and in support of the CPDC mission, goals and purposes. The incumbent will provide assistance to the design professionals and will assist with the coordination between building user committees, project managers and the campus community throughout project development and construction. The incumbent will assist and recommend solutions to problems related to design and ADA compliance, and will gather and research the user's needs, as well as maintenance and safety concerns and requirements. The incumbent will review and assist in the preparation of working drawings and check design and construction drawings for completeness and compliance with program requirements, including engineering reviews of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, utility and equipment group I designs. The incumbent will assure effective design solutions are in compliance with design criteria and scope, through coordination with the institutions operational departments, i.e., audio visual; HVAC, facilities services and telecommunications networking. The incumbent will assist the University on-site representative to ensure that the architect's/engineer's plans and specifications are followed by the Construction Contractor in the performance of the contract documents. In consultation with the Associate Director, the incumbent will resolve construction issues at the job site, and will and safeguard the interest of the University. The incumbent may coordinate work and/or provide lead work direction to design team, and will perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Applicants must possess the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in engineering, architecture, business management, industrial technology, public administration or a related field, along with two years of related experience. Up to four years of applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year-to-year basis. Applicants must have a comprehensive knowledge of drafting methods, materials, techniques, instruments and symbols used in architectural, mechanical, civil and electrical drawings. Applicants must have the ability to professionally communicate through written, verbal and graphic means. Applicants must have the ability to use computers for word-processing, preparation and maintenance of computer based spreadsheets and CADD documents. Applicants must have the ability to master technical information and synthesize it effectively in written and verbal form that is translatable to both technical and non-technical colleagues. Applicants must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment and prioritize workload. Experience and general working knowledge in planning, design and costing procedures and the sequential methods of modern construction practices in order to assure continuous progress to bring the job to completion, as well as working in academic settings with diverse populations is desired. A general knowledge of building codes, ADA, laws and regulations pertaining with disabilities, cost estimating, and facility program design practices, processes and procedures are essential, along with a general knowledge of professional service agreements and construction contracts.
