Portfolio Assistant

Position Title: Portfolio Manager Assistant (PMA) Department: Operations Location: New York Reports To: PMA Team Leader Position Summary: The PMA assists the Portfolio Manager in the implementation of the investment strategy for Managed Accounts. The PMA generates order allocations using various automated trading systems, inputs trade and cash activity to both the portfolio accounting system and trading system and ensures the accuracy of all account information. The PMA serves as the primary administrative support person for the Portfolio Manager, acting as a liaison between the Portfolio Manager and brokers, custodians, clients and internal departments. Key Responsibilities: Trading: • Generate order allocations for assigned trades on either the portfolio accounting system or proprietary systems in a timely manner. • Input trade data to the trading system upon completion of order generation. • Update investment models according to portfolio manager specifications. • Maintain and follow trade rotation sheet. • Communicate trade allocations to brokers/sponsors for all trading activity. Portfolio Review and Analysis: • Review accounts daily, look for violations of account restrictions, accounts with High (10%+) or Low (less than 1%) cash balances relative to the appropriate model, or accounts with security positions higher than 5% of total account market value. • Compare results to investment guidelines, determine appropriate course of action, bring recommendations to the Portfolio Manager for approval, and take corrective action, if necessary. • Perform Account Rebalance for accounts out of line with the model. • Ad hoc/miscellaneous projects. Account Database Maintenance: • Ensure accuracy of all account information on portfolio accounting system. • Coordinate portfolio manager response on all corporate actions. • Maintain Bloomberg systems, account groupings, compliance, and reconciliation. • Setup and removal of new and closed accounts on Bloomberg trading system. Account Liaison • Provide administrative support for assigned accounts, respond to all requests for account information from clients, Portfolio Managers, and other departments within the firm. • Prepare reports, review and verify data prior to distribution to requesting party. • Refer client and broker requests to appropriate personnel. Degree Required: x Bachelor’s  Master’s  Area of Study:  Other ____________ Years of Related Experience: 2 years minimum Specific Industry Experience Preferred: Experience with wrap accounts/APL is a must.
