Senior Department Coordinator--Music Department 200136M
The Senior Coordinator manages the main Music Department office, assists Undergraduate Advising Head in management of the undergraduate program, and assists in planning and monitoring of department operating budget. He/she will also provide support for the Department Chair, faculty advisors, and Administrator. Office duties include coordinating the daily flow of an active department comprising 4 undergraduate major tracks, 3 graduate programs, large undergraduate non-major courses, as well as practice and performance spaces; creating a welcoming atmosphere and providing helpful information to faculty, students and visitors; creating informational documents about departmental programs; responding to telephone, email and fax inquiries; processing mail; scheduling of space; providing additional services for students and faculty; and supervising 20+ student workers. Undergraduate program responsibilities include working closely with Undergraduate Advising Head to develop and manage systems for maintaining all student records; advising students regarding course requirements for various tracks; and providing information to potential and current music majors and minors. Budget management includes collaborating in development of annual operating budget; monthly review of expenses including reconciling reports with internal expense reports; assisting faculty with related budget lines; reporting to department chair and administrator on status of operating budget; and facilitating departmental purchases. The position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; a penchant for detail; flexibility; and the ability to prioritize, take initiative, multitask, and adapt to change in an active and growing department. Must have strong computer skills, including knowledge of basic MSoffice applications, and willingness to learn new applications as needed. The position requires 3-5 years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED. BA/BS and prior experience in an academic environment preferred.
