Student Services Advisor

Summary Duties:     Assists students in achieving their goal of graduation by implementing programs

  and activities that promote student success. As a member of the Student Services

  team, the Advisor is responsible for ensuring that retention strategies are

  communicated to the College community.

 

Responsibilities:

 
Develop and implement strategies to retain students.
Assist the Director of Student Services by reviewing and updating the campus retention plan.
Respond in a timely manner to students, staff and faculty regarding attendance issues, concerns, or general inquiries.
Contact current students to establish and maintain contact in order to answer questions, communicate campus activities and to provide information on community resources such as daycare options, transportation, medical facilities, banking options, etc.
Maintain continued communication with students by serving as the staff advisor for student government and other student clubs and organizations.
Work closely with all departments to ensure students concerns or inquiries are resolved.
Assist the Director of Student Services in coordinating and implementing on-campus activities.
Manage tutoring program, includes finding tutors, setting up tutor appointments and working with teachers to communicate a student?s academic needs.
Monitor and track Probation students each term in order to help them attain above a 2.0 GPA.
Assist in monitoring At-Risk student population.
Update Monthly To Do board with activities relevant to student population.

 

 

Education and Experience equivalencies:

 
1 year previous experience working with students or in a customer service environment.
Bachelor?s degree in psychology, communications, or related field of study preferred.
Knowledge of academic standards, admissions policies and communication techniques.
Basic computer skills to include Windows software and database applications preferred.
