T-OT-Administrative Assistant
Interior Designer Responsible for activities related to the design, space planning, layout, and specifications of commercial-grade office furniture and systems products. Coordinates and implements detailed space plans to address customers space requirements within allotted time and budget constraints. This position reports to the Supervisor, Interior Design or Manager, Division Furniture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned. Consults with Sales Team in the layout, design and space planning of furniture specifications for client offices. Travels to clients location to measure layout. Performs programming, space planning, furniture selection, layout, casework, product costing and pricing, design and selection of fabrics and finishes. Orders clients furniture system products from vendor. Negotiates with vendor for best price. Meets with customers to determine their specific furniture needs and develops potential solutions to meet these needs. Answers both routine and highly specialized questions regarding furniture systems. Coordinates, develops, and reviews proposed project designs and construction plans. Prepares presentation material. Verifies the company design standards have been met. Provides on-site job inspections comparing construction drawings to final build-out. Works with installers to ensure installation meets with customers specifications. PRIMARY INTERACTIONS Daily interaction with client account base and prospects, furniture vendors, interior design department employees, furniture personnel, sales team and various architectural, design, and construction representatives. COMPETENCIES Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Computer literate (word processing, spreadsheets, project applications) Working knowledge of furniture design and specification software Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Applied Science - Interior Design with a minimum of two (2) years in a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Prior experience in office furniture industry, general knowledge of systems furniture, and experience in customer interaction preferred. Experience with furniture design and specification software required.
