Summary
Technical Writer will write and edit course materials and training related documents based on guidance from Instructional Designer and OEM documents and technical manuals. Works with Technical Librarian to support ISO process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
oWrite and maintain material to be used in training CBP personnel in all large-and small-scale inspection equipment.
oRead and interpret technical manuals and government regulations.
oDraft and revise lesson plans, course evaluations, job aids and supporting course material.
oPrepare monthly and ad hoc reports and presentations.
oDevelop and maintain Work Instruction Processes in support of ISO for the Training Division.
oDevelop articles for trade publications, technical briefs for customer and direct marketing material for customer.
oParticipate in the development of and write program plan for new initiatives.
oCoordinate distribution of written materials to vendors and other affiliates.
oDevelop procedural guides for new hires, vendors and affiliates.
oProvide support to other divisions, as needed.
oDevelop content for NEEMR link on CBP website and other electronic media outlets.
oCoordinate writing efforts with off-site CTSC personnel.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience
oBachelors degree or equivalent college credits in English or related field.
o5+ years experience technical writing in the following areas: classroom adult training, marketing, publishing, program objectives, policies and procedures, distance learning and program needs and assessments.

Software Knowledge
oMicrosoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint at advanced level.
oMicrosoft Publisher desired.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
oMust be able to obtain a Treasury BI

Work Environment
oOffice type environment with temperature control.
