Unit Administrator

Position Description:

The Unit Administrator will be responsible for a wide variety of detailed activities within RAND Infrastructure, Safety, and Environment (ISE).

Tasks will include, but are not limited to: Participating in budget preparation, budget management, and tracking of budget expenditures for existing projects Helping to track the proposal process Supporting the proposal preparation process, including preparing budgeting, capabilities, and past performance sections Assisting in the implementation of procedures to be used to monitor contracts Participating in project meetings in support of the quality assurance process.

The individual in this position will: Manage records, spreadsheets, and centralized databases for financial data and for the status of contracts and grants Assist in the drafting and editing of administrative and financial reports, and other materials related to research support and administrative operations When appropriate, represent the unit with various support organizations, such as Contract and Grant Services, the Budget Office, Publications, and Accounting Assist management and staff in interpreting and applying administrative policies, procedures, and practices.

Educational requirements: BA/BS in Business Administration or related field.

 

Specific technical skills required: Facility with commercial software, particularly Excel, Outlook, Access, and Oasis A significant amount of experience with independent problem solving and attention to detail An in-depth knowledge of RAND procedures and practices A self-starter who is able to meet deadlines Comfortable working patiently with people at all levels of seniority Articulate in spoken and written communication Able to multitask and work as part of a team.

Related experience required: 1-3 years

 

Type of experience: At least two years of demonstrated experience in budget development and financial management is required. A working knowledge of contractual documents is preferred.

Security Clearance: Able to obtain U.S. government security clearance.

Locations: Santa Monica, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C.
