About the Job

Edelman seeks an Account Supervisor in the Chicago office.

 

Qualificiations:  An Account Supervisor must be able to manage the account teams and budgets of one or more sizable accounts. An AS must be able to effectively delegate many tactical assignments on his/her accounts and accurately judge and edit the work of all SAE's, AE's, and AAE's. S/he must have a comprehensive level of understanding of the accounts s/he manages; their technology, products, markets, personnel, outside influencers, etc., and impart this knowledge to account teams and influencers. S/he must be familiar with all public relations tools, and be able to recommend these or alternative marketing activities to his/her clients. The AS must possess superior writing skills, as well as function as an effective editor for documentation. S/he must be able to work effectively with and counsel clients' management and account team. The AS must also have the necessary and intellectual energy to manage accounts and people. This position requires four to seven years of experience and a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 


Responsibilities: Manages the overall quality of work on multiple accounts, and the individual performance of all SAE's, AE's, AAE's. Day-to-day responsibilities include: build strong relationships with clients and operate as day to day client contact; play a major role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive public relations programs;
address client issues effectively, thoughtfully; effectively coach company spokespersons on speeches and presentations; oversee press programs and manage business press and analyst relationships; develop the strategy for press tours, PR support at trade shows, press conferences and special events; ability to write product launch and media strategy plans; maintain key media contacts; pitch top-tier contacts; generate ideas for media outreach/strategy; screen media inquiries, manage client arrangements; AP style master; superior writing and editing skills for all press materials; strategize news releases, white papers, executive speeches, contributed articles; understand key client information including general business strategy, products and services offered, and key customers;understand key client industry issues relating to products, product categories, technologies, primary competition and general issues facing the industry; understand general principles of business and marketing and the role of PR in the communications mix; evaluate campaign results against objectives; use results to suggest improvements to client or team; lead brainstorms; assist in successfully growing existing accounts and develop programs to build business from existing clients; take overall responsibility for all budget issues related to accounts including account profitability; make measurable contributions to the agency's new business programs including developing new business opportunities and participating in new business presentations; participate and counsel professional and account development of junior employees; assist in recruiting, interviewing and selecting Edelman personnel; contribute to Performance Appraisal process for peers, managers, and subordinates; coach and supervise junior employees; engage in team building activities; hold weekly account team meetings at which assignments are clearly identified and delegated, and progress is monitored; live the Edelman values (quality, integrity, respect, entrepreneurial spirit, mutual benefits); motivate and inspire team; demonstrate professional and team leadership; foster relationships with other agencies involved with client work; constantly look for integration opportunities.
