Advertising Agency Copywriter
I. Job Summary:
Got five years of advertising agency experience? We are looking for a creative, talented Senior Copywriter to provides in-depth, comprehensive writing skills with strong creative ideas to the creative team. Uses expertise in writing across all promotional tactics with the ability to tackle day-to-day copy needs with minimal supervision. Develops positive relationships with team members and clients. Full Benefits package including medical, dental, vision and 401(k) Plan.
II. Primary Responsibilities:
? Spends majority of time ensuring tactics are executed in an accurate, creative, and timely manner.
? Maintains consistency of message/strategy involving the following tasks:
o Writes headlines, subheads, and body copy.
o Ensures that work associated with brand(s) is consistent with the Creative Work Plan and/or campaign.
o Works with an Art Director to ensure this work has visual impact and is effective.
o References and fact-checks copy.
? Refines presentation skills.
? Attends client meetings/presentations where work is discussed.
? Works with client to explore/incorporate suggestions and directives, resolving questions, concerns, and overcoming objections.
? Defends and supports copy choices when challenged.
? Contributes with the conceptual process ? alone or as part of a team ? by generating ideas for existing clients and new business pitches.
? Works with all agency departments to ensure all jobs are strategically sound and completed on schedule.
? Participates in market research as needed.
? Reviews advertising trends, consumer surveys, and other data regarding marketing of specific and related goods and services in order to formulate a presentation approach.
? Works with Art Director and Client Account team to review creative strategies, develop concepts, and provide creative lead on proposed projects.
? Suggests ways for the Art Director to graphically present the data.
? Performs other related duties as required by management.
III. Performance Standards:
? Must write copy that:
o Is concise, clear, creative, supportable, and on strategy.
o Displays good sentence structure.
o Reveals a good sense of composition and a logical flow of ideas.
o Is grammatically correct.
o No spelling errors.
? Takes ownership of accounts.
? Is a resource to others on their accounts.
? Understands all the elements that comprise a good creative concept.
? Has a full understanding of the assigned account.
? Contributes conceptually to the agency, in addition to writing both light and technical pieces.
? Exhibits willingness and an open-minded attitude toward copy critique/improvement by creative director, and effectively incorporates suggestions/improvements to copy.
? Shows creative and relevant use of language to communicate brand?s objectives.
? Forges relationships and works well with agency members (Creative Director, Art Director, Account, Production, and Proofreading) as well as the client.
? Demonstrates knowledge of agency, copy, and editorial processes.
? Produces accurate and timely work with virtually no supervision.
? Displays understanding of brand and industry.
? Demonstrates creative thinking/problem solving to meet clients? marketing needs.
? Remains up to date with time recording.
IV. Skills Required:
? Ability to work as member of a team to develop and complete projects on time and on target.
? Ability to organize and prioritize work under pressure.
? Proficient in either/both Macintosh and PC operating systems.
V. Professional Background and Experience:
? Minimum of (5) years of agency experience.
? Strong background in all facets of advertising and marketing communications.
? Four year College degree in Journalism, Marketing, Creative Writing, English Communications or similar field.
