Communication Specialist

SUMMARY: At the direction of the VP, Corp Communications, the coordinator implements communications plans for accomplishing the company's communications goals internally and externally. Key components of this position, among others, include building and maintaining content on the company's intranet and internet; coordinating and producing company's monthly print publication; and assisting in the promotion and execution of the company's annual sales event.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION - Undergraduate degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

B. EXPERIENCE - Six to nine years of corporate communications or marketing communications experience in a corporate or agency setting; financial services background preferred but not required. Corporate experience especially desirable.

C. SKILLS - Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.  Proven prowess in managing details. Thorough understanding of the print process; experience in working with print designers and outside printers. Good background in Intranet and Internet creation and content management; ability to work with web designers and programmers to accomplish goals. Familiarity with the elements of events planning. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Facility for managing multiple projects with simultaneous, short deadlines. Ability to work as a team and to shift gears regularly.

D. OTHER REQUIREMENTS - May be some weekend work two or three per year and some travel, less than 5% of the time.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
At the direction of the VP, builds and maintains the company's Intranet. Works with outside designers and internal programmers to bring ideas to fruition. Works with the various subsidiaries and departments to ensure that content is clear, up-to-date, relevant, correct. Develops and implements ideas for promoting the Intranet to users and continuously improving the site.
Working with subsidiary marketing departments and corporate departments, gathers, writes, and edits stories for monthly print publication. Works with outside design firm to produce magazine; develops new ideas for promoting and distributing magazine.  Develops and reports Company Trip standings to all divisions.
Assists VP in managing, promoting and executing the company's annual sales event. Assists with managing all of the elements of the event including logistics, gifts, onsite events, attendees, sponsors, and numerous other small but vital details.
Assists with development of video communications. Continually explores ways to improve processes.
Works with all of the departments and subsidiaries of the company in various writing and communications projects.
Provides support for departments in incorporating company logos, presentation materials, newsletters and recruitment packets.
Assists VP in all other daily tasks and projects. Seeks ways to improve processes and results.
