Communications Associate for Non-profit organization

Our client, the Utah Chapter of the National MS Society, is looking for a Communications Associate to assist with implementing chapter public relations strategies. This position is hands on and fast paced in a quickly growing non-profit environment that generates over 200 media placements per year.  You will be given many opportunities to learn, grow, and work with the media and receive an Annual Compensation of $28,000 with full benefits.

 

The ideal candidate has excellent written (30% of your time would be spent writing and editing) and verbal communication skills, makes decisions quickly, can present in front of large groups, or appear on camera. Additionally, you must be able to think on your feet, adjust to change at a moments notice, and interact well with diverse groups of people.  We need someone who can roll up their sleeves and do what needs doing; someone who thrives in an environment that requires self motivation and impeccable organizational skills.

 

Day to day responsibilities include:
Creation of a quarterly newsletter with a circulation of 11,000
Maintain department calendars and assist with budget tracking
Work with media entities for reduced or donated advertising rates
Development of talking points, fact sheets, press kits, and promotional materials
Coordinate marketing committee interactions, track and record media placements
Make weekly web adjustments using an MS Word based template (does not require HTML)
Distribution of press releases and media materials
Manage a volunteer community relations ambassador group of 10 volunteers



Minimum requirements:

Bachelor?s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or English preferred, or 2 years professional experience, or a combination of the two.
