Community Development Specialist
The United Illuminating Company (UI), headquartered in New Haven, CT, is an investor-owned regional electric utility that provides service to more than 314,000 customers in the Greater New Haven and Bridgeport area. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team in our New Haven headquarters.
This position is responsible for UI?s local community presence in the communities we serve, with a primary focus in the Bridgeport area. Represents UI at community and company-related functions. Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, including chambers and non-profit organizations. Shares responsibility for grant-making decisions and administration. Also organizes employee volunteer programs and events, including United Way.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor?s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business or Political Science. Master?s degree is desirable. Six years relevant experience in the community and/or government relations or political field is desired. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Regular availability for off-hour assignments, including early mornings, evenings and weekends is a requirement.
