Corporate Philanthropy Manager

Work with Toys R Us children's Fund Board members, Public Relations/Corporate Philanthropy Director and Toys ''RUs Executive Committee to create and enforce guidelines and standards for donations and grants for Toys ''R'' Us, Inc.  Philanthropy and the Toys ''R'' Us Children's Fund.  Distribute updates to stores and employees on a quarterly basis.

Create a long-term plan for giving for the company and the Fund-develop milestones that can be measured throughout each year.

Review and research grant proposals and charitable organizations that approach Toys ''R'' Us for yearly donations and partnerships.  Meet with various charitable organizations to determine best fit for Toys ''R'' Us philanthropic goals.

Work with internal PR/Special Events team and the external special events company to oversee and manage the yearly fundraising event.  Oversee all aspects of the event including but not limited to: research and providing new ideas/elements to help re-energize the 21 year old event to raise more money and awareness; work with external special events company to ensure that all aspects of the gala event are up to standard and completed in a timely manner; research and review best practices for live and silent auctions; research and secure appropriate auction packages for the event.

Help develop a strategy to communicate the philanthropic efforts of Toys ''R'' Us, Inc and promote the efforts both internally and externally throughout the year.

Develop a giving strategy and plan for crisis situations that may arise throughout the year (e.g Tsunami).  Prepare guidelines on how to respond to the situation in a  timely manner through fund distribution and communication to internal and external parties.

Oversee day to day accounting for hte Toys ''R'' Us Children's Fund and Toys ''R'' Us Corporate Philanthropy, which includes Fund and Corporate Grants, Toys R Us gift card donations,, and administrative budgets.

Review annd oversee the Toys R Us Children's Fund-Starlight Site Playroom Program and other signature Toys ''R'' Us philanthropy programs to determine best course of action moving forward.  Alert Toys ''R'' Us Children's Fund Board Members when significant milestones are coming up.

Oversee tax registration compliance in each state where the children's Fund conducts fundraising.  Review procedures with philanthropy and legal team and determine best course of action to move forward to streamline tax registration and payments throughout the year. Work with legal to alert the Board when any changes occur across the country.

Develop discussion items for quarterly Board meetings and oversee development of agenda, meeting minutes and follow up reports.

Develop website content for philanthropy as well as oversee posting of content, grant guidelines and submission page for external use.  Monitor website use and review all proposals.

Create weekly reports to outline philanthropy progress to Board Members and Executive Committee.  Provide Director with a thorough debriefing of philanthropy efforts  (including donations and overall gala) on an ongoing basis. Create recap documents that outline strengths and weaknesses, as well as recommendations to improve efforts moving forward.

Manage staff of one and any external agency or employees on an as -needed basis.  Monitor development of staff person and provide them with the necessary guidance and tools for porfessional growth.

The right candidate will have the following experience and skill set:
3-5 years experience in non profit or related fields
Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
Event experience a plus
Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook and GIFTS program.
Time Management skills
Resourcefulness, flexibility and resiliency
Strong Interpersonal Skills
