Summary of Responsibilities:
The Product Marketing Director is responsible for finalizing and cooperatively developing Marketing plans that deliver on the Product?s Business Plan Goals. This position is responsible for increasing product awareness and consideration among the Intermediary, Employer and Employee audiences. This position is responsible for developing the product value proposition and supporting positioning, which is in alignment with MetLife?s overall Institutional and Corporate brand positioning. In addition to teaming with other Product Marketing leaders, the role will lead the effort of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with other Product Marketing and Market Research groups, along with the key Business Partners to help support growing product sales, revenues and earnings. This position is the single point of contact for the product group business partners for the specific product group for all marketing capabilities/services, i.e. market research, competitive intelligence, marketing strategy and programs.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop Product Marketing strategies and detailed Marketing plans with Product Marketing Managers to meet business goals
Develop product value propositions and positioning platforms
Create product content, which can be integrated into Product Acquisition and Retention programs and cross-product programs by the Customer Marketing Group.
Partner with other Product Marketing groups to move our Marketing support model from a single product focus to a portfolio management philosophy
Support new product development initiatives and launches
Thoroughly understand the competitive landscape including industry trends, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to identify business opportunities and to refine product positioning and target audience selection criteria.
Develop, monitor and manage budget.
Work with Customer/Segment Marketing to identify appropriate segmentation strategies for products
Coach management team to maximize their contributions and develop them, growing their skill set and readying them to assume increased responsibilities.
Develop and recommend strategies for expanding the voluntary annuity business through both an independent and portfolio approach.
Increase awareness and the need for income annuities in the institutional marketplace.
Influence others within the Company focused on current core businesses to recognize and seize the opportunity this market presents for future growth.
Required Competencies:
Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Ability to network effectively across all areas and levels of Company to inform and influence outcomes
Demonstrated knowledge of annuities/retirement marketplace
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-dimensional marketing communications projects.
Ability to analyze market research, effectively identify MetLife gaps and opportunities and develop high-impact initiatives to address them
Ability to establish strong partnerships with both internal and external business partners and alliances and influence decisions.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience in employee benefits marketing strongly preferred.
