Director - Advertising & Promotions

Job Description: Responsible for establishing the integrated marketing communications strategy for all d advertising, media and promotional activities to drive usage, retention, preference, purchase consideration and brand equity for all RHD brands.  Position defines the communications strategy for all brands in the RHD portfolio and oversees the development, management and implementation associated with all programs.  Identifies optimum integrated marketing communications mix to achieve stated corporate objectives.

 

Position requires proven experience defining integrated marketing communications strategies for consumer products and/or services, proficiency in all aspects of marketing communications including advertising strategy development and implementation; media strategy, planning, buying and analysis; event and sponsorship marketing strategy, program development and execution; online and offline product usage generating promotions. Able demonstrate positive ROI for integrated marketing communications programs, as a result of direct management responsibilities.  Extensive experience managing advertising agencies is required.  Strong team leadership required, with the ability to manage the diverse marketing communications functions with proficiency.  Proven experience managing high performing teams.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

? Defines the integrated marketing communications strategy to support corporate and market-specific objectives.

? Analyzes the media landscape, competitive landscape and consumer behavior to optimize the marketing communications strategy to deliver highly impactful, break-thru communication strategies.

? Establishes and defines the advertising and creative development initiatives including advertising, media, events, cause marketing and barter to deliver on the strategic platform

? Establishes, tracks and reports advertising results, adjusts plans as needed to optimize performance and ROI

? Oversees advertising and promotional budget in excess of $30 million dollars (budget includes ad agency fees, media investment, advertising production, talent fees, event marketing, product promotions)

? Stewards financial resources for all agency/vendor contractual agreements to support advertising and promotional initiative

? Establishes mass media communication plans to achieve corporate and brand objectives, while maximizing the ROI on paid and barter initiatives

? Engages barter to strategically maximize the messaging and brand exposure across the footprint.

? Supports the Field organization in the MIP process for marketing communication opportunities:

? Manage, develop and promote existing promotional tactics

? Analyze existing programs to strategic alignment with corporate and market priorities

? Develop competitive response and contingency plans to address market-specific needs

? Effectively manages multiple advertising agency relationships to foster creative excellence, integration and result-oriented programs.  Evaluates agency performance, negotiates annual scope of work, contracts and agency fees.

? Routinely writes and presents advertising and media strategies to senior management with proficiency

? Performance Metrics:  Advertising awareness, brand awareness, overall opinion.  Accurate delivery of all creative messages/rotations, optimal CPP for media buy.  Overall impact on usage (intent to use) and retention.

 

Qualifications:

Requirments:

? 12+ years of combined experience managing integrated marketing communicaitons, broadcast advertising campaigns, media planning/buying, event management and promotional marketing

? Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Integrated Marketing Communications or relevant work experience.

? 12+ yrs experience managing advertising agencies, ad agency experience preferred

? Proven experience creating and developing effective advertising campaigns.

? Strong team leader, with strong interpersonal skills

? Position requires keen understanding of integrated marketing communciations with experience managing advertising, media, events, promotions and cause marketing initiatives.

? Strategic planning, agency managmeent, creative development and production experience required

? Ability to provide actionable feedback and clearly disseminate project needs to multi-disciplined areas. 

? Extensive knowledge of various media and advertising strategies/tactics.

? Flexible

? Superior Strategic and Detail Management Skills

? Exceptional verbal, listening, and written communication skills.  Executive-level presentation experience required.

? Effective at leading cross-funcitonal teams/efforts and mulitple tasks with aggressive deadlines

? Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; enthusiastic attitude and ambitious career goals

? Travel will be required

Preferred / Desired:

? Experience leading large teams

? Strong background Agency Management

? Directory / print publishing / advertising industry experience preferred
