Director, BU Ops

Director BioPharma Business Operations is responsible for supporting a significant business through the planning and execution of initiatives that drive BU performance enhancement, increase effectiveness, and facilitate a more innovative and flexible work environment, as well as provide operational support to the BU. The position is responsible for coordinating the functioning of a multi-faceted commercial operations structure to facilitate full integration of these critical business functions into BU strategic planning and tactical execution. Position accountable for effective communication and collaboration across all business units, including the participation in or leadership of cross-functional and multi-organizational projects and teams in support of these responsibilities. You will lead and manage projects that have significant impact across the BioPharma Business Unit. These typically include: organizational and governance structure, biotech industry research and insights, strategy development and preparation of key internal or external messaging. You will coordinate and manage BU governance meetings, including BioPharma Management Team meetings, Finance & Commercial Operations meetings, and BioPharma Full Staff Meetings. You will coordinate and manage ongoing business unit operational requirements including: analyst call preparation, grants & donations committee decisions, annual report preparation, goal and objective setting/tracking, internal reporting, BU participation in corporate planning (portfolio, budget, marketing, capital, etc). You will also serve as liaison between BU and R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, TO&PS, Medical Affairs, Business Development, Quality Assurance, Public Affairs, Investor Relations, and corporate governance organizations integral to the success of the business unit. Represent the BU's General Manager and/or BU at key meetings

This position requires a BS/BA in Business or technical discipline, an MBA or advanced degree is preferred, with at least 8 years experience in marketing, general business, marketing research, operations management or project management. Must have the ability to think analytically and critically. Must have excellent business, organizational effectiveness and financial acumen. Must possess superb judgment and be confident in leading teams and organizations. A combination of strategic and tactical thinking is required. Must be able to develop innovative approaches using best known methods, concepts, and ideas generated both internally and externally to continuously improve management of the business unit. Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, coordination ability, analytical ability, and innovative problem solving skills are required. Must have proven ability to manage complex situations in a matrix organizational structure through the participation in or leadership of cross-functional teams, together with strong team membership skills.
