Director, Business Analysis

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Market Research, this extremely high profile and high impact position will direct all activities related to providing secondary data analysis and forecasting for Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Incumbent will have direct reports.

 

Responsibilities:Assume leadership role in providing marketing analytics to organization. Deliverables will be used to guide decision-making in marketing, to provide insight into factors accelerating or decelerating product performance, and to make informed decisions about products in the pipeline.Oversee the development of forecasts for in-line and pipeline products.  Take responsibility for building data infrastructure to support on-going commercial activities of the enterprise (marketed and pipeline products). Oversee the annual and ongoing situation analysis/diagnostics in support of brand plans.  Lead development and refinement of metrics for commercial organization and assume responsibility for reporting.Work with Senior Director on departmental initiatives aimed at developing capabilities and organization.Act as a liaison to integrate data from primary market research team and sales operations.



Requirements:MBA or other advanced degree in the life sciences, Economics, Statistics or Public Health (or equivalent experience).8+ years in the biopharmaceutical industry, in marketing, sales, market analysis and/or market research areas.  2+ years experience in marketing analytics in biopharmaceutical industry.  Consulting experience a plus.  At least one year managing direct report(s) is highly desirable.Thorough understanding of secondary data sources and ability to identify which resources are most appropriate for the needs of Amylin.Sound knowledge of marketed and pipeline products, therapeutic markets, and marketing activities and objectives.  Analytically rigorous, consultative approach to problem solving.  Ability to contribute to strategic direction for both marketed and in-line products.  Ability to work with a high degree of independence, as well as plan, organize and implement multiple projects within time and budget constraints. Demonstrated ability to interface well with senior management.Ability to independently apply structured problem solving approaches to define, analyze and develop alternatives to business problem.Strong senior management presence and advance presentation skills.  Ability to develop and deliver messages that explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences both orally and in writing.  Proven ability to develop and manage budget by allocating resources appropriately.Ability to engage, lead and manage teams within function or cross-functionally.Demonstrated ability to delegate and direct to achieve goals.
