Director of Communications - Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School

 

Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School, opened in 1993, is the premier independent Pre-K through 12th grade school in the Joplin, Mo., area. Recent market research shows that the community holds the school in a high regard, and prefers it over other schools when college preparation is the most important factor.

 

To build on this momentum, Thomas Jefferson seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing. Communications is a top priority for the school, and is central to successfully achieving admissions, retention, and development goals. The ideal candidate will have the education, experience, and drive to enhance and sustain a positive image of the school with important constituency groups including students, parents, prospects, alumni, faculty, accrediting organizations, the media, the local community, and local, state and national government.

 

The successful candidate will have several years of experience developing and managing internal communications, media relations and public affairs, and crisis communication. Communication via periodicals, publications, Web sites, news releases, and other media are critical in connecting constituency groups to the school, and building support through management of planned giving, endowments and other fund-raising activities.

 

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, several years of experience, and a degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field. This position reports directly to the Head of School.
