Director Communications - (LF10603)

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Communications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Communication will be accountable for:

q Expanding the visibility of CoStar as the number one provider of commercial real estate information products & services among journalists and the investment community

q Recommending, developing and managing implementation of plans and programs to disseminate information to journalists, analysts and investors about CoStar

q Serves as a corporate press spokesperson whose statements reflect policies and positions that may materially affect public and internal perception about the company

q Producing targeted, high-value communications for print, online and broadcast media - from press kits to video and audio podcasts

q Instilling a thorough understanding by the news media of CoStar products and services using channels as varied as bylined article placements, one-on-one news pitches and electronic tip sheets

q Integrating PR and IR communications with corporate marketing plans and initiatives

q Fulfilling media requests for CoStar information and ensuring the accuracy of that information in print, electronic and broadcast media

q Managing the promotion and implementation of targeted media access to CoStar's information database

q Monitoring national, local and trade media coverage to ensure consistency with CoStar messaging

q Applying evaluation and measurement methodologies to assess the effectiveness and consistency of CoStar's messaging

q Monitoring and providing daily news summaries to the executive management team

q Supporting senior management's communications to analysts and investors, such as quarterly call scripts, financial press releases and road show presentations, while ensuring compliance with SEC and NASDAQ stock market disclosure requirements

q Assisting in the writing and production of CoStar's annual report

q Ensuring that the press and investor relations sections of the company's website are continually updated and comply with SEC and NASDAQ stock market disclosure requirements


SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will have:

q Minimum 10 years of combined experience managing public relations and investor relations functions for a public company

q Experience managing public relations and investor relations functions

q Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field (MBA is a plus)

q Outstanding record of promoting and advancing public relations and investor relations initiatives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented public company

q Experience working with the highest levels of management
q Experience meeting NASDAQ and SEC disclosure requirements

q Experience coordinating corporate communications with the NASDAQ stock exchange

q Strong verbal, writing and editing skills

q Ability to clearly articulate a consistent corporate message

q Strong focus developing programs that anticipate, identify and respond to customer needs

q Ability to develop and execute plans into actions with measurable, ROI-based results

q Experience obtaining positive, accurate coverage in a wide array of national media outlets, including print, online and broadcast

q Experience with multimedia communications, such as blogs and podcasts

q Self-confident business presence

q Ability to work well under pressure of competing deadlines

q Exceptional organizational, communications and management skills

q Demonstrated budget management experience

q Sound judgment and maturity, resourcefulness and flexibility

q Ability to work successfully with those not in direct span of control

q Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented culture

q Previous experience in the commercial real estate industry is a plus (including commercial real estate companies, associations and PR agencies handling commercial real estate accounts.)
